Leave No Trace

If you follow me on Instagram you have probably seen the #leavenotrace tag on most, if not all, of my posts. I want to take a moment to explain why that specific hashtag is so popular on my posts, why our family strives to support the Leave No Trace Organization, and why you should too!

#LeaveNoTrace means much more than “no-littering” – although that seems to be the common thought that comes to mind when others read it. Of course, packing out what you bring in, and not littering is a great start to recreating and exploring outdoors responsibly. However, there are actually seven principles behind Leave No Trace, and they’re worth learning about to minimize your impact on the earth & its natural areas. You can find those seven principles here https://lnt.org/why/7-principles/

Nature, parks and wildlife are all under serious threat. Ensuring that people practice LEAVE NO TRACE while recreating or exploring in the wilderness is essential.

Leave No Trace is an international movement, nonprofit organization and educational program dedicated to protecting the outdoors by teaching people to enjoy it responsibly. The organization, The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, accomplishes this mission by delivering cutting-edge education and research to
millions of people across the country every year.
